Drew has 15+ years of cyber & intelligence experience, currently he serves as Chief Information Security Officer at Northern Illinois University where he is responsible for all aspects of information security covering multiple control requirements ranging from HIPAA, PCI, CJIS, and FERPA to incident response, vendor management, and the overall information security risk management strategy. Prior to NIU, Drew was the Information Security Officer over the Americas for a FTSE100 consumer goods company. In that capacity he was responsible for the development and execution of information security and risk for an organization spanning 20 countries. Drew’s background includes directing cyber threat management, intelligence, & fraud monitoring/response at Fortune 200 company; one of the largest providers of business outsourcing solutions processing over $1.3T in transactions. Drew oversaw 3 incident response centers located worldwide. Drew began his career as an officer with the U.S. Air Force where he planned/executed large-scale attack operations & commanded red team vulnerability assessments against DoD facilities & networks where he replicated advanced persistent threats (APTs) and insider threats. Most notably he commanded the red team for the the 1st Cyber Flag involving red teams from the NSA, DOJ, DHS, academia, & all services. Drew chaired the Air Reserve Component Cyber WEPTAC, has spoken as a cyber security and threat SME at numerous venues to include, RSA and various members of U.S. Congress. He has a BA in Criminal Justice, Masters in Forensic Science, & is currently finishing his PhD.
