Black Hat Facilitates Donation of LEGO Sets to Local Las Vegas Children’s Hospital During Black Hat USA 2025
Donations stemmed from partnership with BrickNerd as an extension of Black Hat events feature, Bricks & Picks
LAS VEGAS, August 20, 2025 — Black Hat, the cybersecurity industry’s most established and in-depth security event series, today announced its recent donation of LEGO sets in partnership with BrickNerd, an independent online publication dedicated to sharing stories, preserving history, and celebrating creativity within the LEGO fan community. The donations took place during Black Hat USA 2025, which occurred at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas from August 2 to August 7. On August 4, BrickNerd and Black Hat donated hundreds of LEGO sets and stuffed animals to UMC Children’s Hospital as an extension of the Black Hat events feature, Bricks & Picks.
Bricks & Picks is a combined activity space for conference attendees to delight their playful and creative sides with LEGO bricks and physical locks. This activity area, led by experts in both fields, featured competitions, hands-on demonstrations, and more. New for Black Hat USA 2025, Bricks & Picks featured a cyber city made of LEGO bricks that attendees built together by creating individual city blocks that were combined to create the full cityscape containing more than a quarter of a million pieces.
"Black Hat remains dedicated to making a positive impact beyond the cybersecurity industry by investing in the communities that host our events," said Steve Wylie, Vice President and General Manager, Black Hat. "Through our continued donation of LEGO sets to children at one of the local children's hospitals, we're proud to bring moments of joy and creativity to Las Vegas families, long after the close of the event."
